While every day is a celebration of Black history and culture, during the month of March, the Ile Omode drummers were invited to perform at Bishop O'Dowd’s Black History Program. Annually, Bishop O’Dowd’s Black Student Union creates a program to showcase the contributions of Black people. Ile Omode students have taken center-stage in the production, and this year it included several alums presently attending O’Dowd, including Selma Apara (c’18), Nyhiri Graham (c’19), and Kassidy Collins (c’20). The Program was a reflection of black excellence, and the school was represented well by Ababacar (8th), who organized the drummers, Daniel (7th), Osereme (8th), and 6th graders, Marcellus and King. The Ile Omode drummers have also been invited to perform in Antioch for their Juneteenth festival.
