The alums include Myles Santos, Selma Apara, Joshua Lynch, Kameron Kendall, Seynabou Kouyate, Yhzekel Yisrael-Kahsai, Neranti Gary, Adesina Tyler, Chloe Allen, and Ade Porter. Four of the nine graduates will attend HBCUs, and two plan to attend college in California. The majority are pursuing STEM fields, including biological and environmental sciences, as well as computer science. The first cohort of Ile Omode students attending Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward graduated this year. Four years ago, they were the first students to attend the Hayward Catholic school. Among the graduates, Neranti Gary, after earning a 4.0 GPA, was honored by being named President's Education Award Program. The four have remained close over the years, frequently carpooling together to school, and they were each active in the school's Black Student Union. Neranti will pursue computer science at Howard University, and Yhzekel will major in a similar field, information systems, at Loyola University in New Orleans. Seynabou won't be too far away; she'll study business at Southern University in Baton Rouge, and finally, Adesina will takes courses in economics and management at Clark-Atlanta University. Four students graduated from Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, with the students averaging nearly a 3.6 GPA, with several receiving first honors recognition. They have participated in varsity basketball, cheerleading, football, and student government - leaving a lasting impression. The group includes Myles who was the captain of the varsity basketball team, and Selma, the student body president, the first among Ile Omode alums to be elected to the position. Myles is pre-med attending the University of Oregon, and Selma will attend Howard University and major in Computer Science with a minor in theater. Both Joshua and Kameron opted for land-based pursuits, with Joshua studying agriculture at UC Merced, while Kameron will major in environmental sciences after working at the Oakland Zoo since middle school. Chloe is the lone graduate from St. Mary's College High School in Berkeley, having transferred to the school in her sophomore year. She found the school very inviting, and after COVID restrictions were removed, she joined the school's varsity cheerleading squad. She'll attend Temple University in the fall and study information systems.
