Send 6th Grader to South Africa
 Tuesday, February 27, 2018
Samahdi Scott, a 6th grade, honor roll student at Ile Omode has been chosen to participate in a cultural exchange program and travel to South Africa with Culture Keepers for two weeks. Samahdi is the youngest student to be accepted into the program, as most of the students are in high school.
Send Mack to Africa is a cultural exchange program facilitated through Culture Keepers. The mission of the project is for the students to expand their awareness through cultural exchange, build on their sense of pride and self-esteem by participating in community service and grow their worldview through traveling and exposure to other languages.
During the two week program, taking place March 27, 2018-April 9, 2018, approximately 28 students, 16 adult mentors and 5 junior mentors will tour Johannesburg, learn about South African history and culture, engage in a cultural exchange with young people from QwaQwa, Free State, and participate in excursions that include a safari, a visit to the Naledi High School in Soweto and an African naming ceremony.
Lets help Samahdi get to South Africa!. We all understand how important culture is to the education of black children. This trip will allow Samahdi to learn first hand about the linkages between the history of South Africans and blacks in the United States. It will expose him to a rich culture that will play a vital role in his development.
He needs your support! A donation of any size will make a huge difference! Please indicate Samahdi Scott on your donation
